Annual Back to School Kids Wellness Festival

Carolina Health Centers Inc is celebrating its 4th Annual Back to School Children's Wellness Festival this year. Last year, the Greenwood Mall hosted the event with over 1,000 kids and close to 5,000 community members in attendance. On Wednesday, August 11, 2010, bring your children to the Greenwood Mall to participate. We offer free vision, body mass index, and dental screenings. Children receive a "passport" and backpack upon arrival – receiving school supplies and stamps for each different screening station they attend. Children who complete the entire circuit of screenings not only leave with a backpack stuffed with folders, glue, pencils, and paper, but also the opportunity to win a Wii. This encourages children (and parents!) to make a habit of practicing wellness at home by taking steps to prevent illness and stay fit. The Greenwood YMCA and Self Regional Wellness Works are on hand to teach children fun, stimulating games they can play at home. Inflatables and obstacle courses also help insure that the event is both fun and informative.

Carolina Health Centers' primary goal is to activate and educate the community about health and wellness. We currently operate seven family practice centers, a large pediatric practice, a school-based practice, a women's health practice, and participate in a national "diabetes collaborative." Our pharmacies provide Carolina Health Centers' patients with medications at reduced prices. CHC has a staff of over twenty healthcare providers which includes family practice physicians, pediatricians, and nurse practitioners. CHC locations accept Medicaid, Medicare, most private insurances, and provide dental vouchers and a sliding fee discount program for those who qualify.
